Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic specialist podiatrist to join our community based team.

Post offered - Specialist Podiatrist Band 6  - 32 hours

The post holders  working pattern would be Monday-Friday - 08.30-16.30

Newly qualified podiatrist considered and will have to follow a development Band 5 programme. On successful completion of preceptorship/competency programme will progress to Band 6.

The successful candidate will be working in a variety of settings across Mansfield and Ashfield area of Nottingham, and will manage a mixed caseload including routine, high risk wound care, domiciliary visits, and participation within local nail surgery rota. You must have the ability, means and willingness to travel between multiple sites across the locality to carry out duties.

Opportunities to work within our Podiatric Surgery team, Community based Foot Protection Team  and Diabetic MDT hospital clinics across Nottinghamshire.  Additional CPD training and internal career advancement available.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the team you would be expected to

Provide assessment, diagnosis and implementation of individual treatment plans for patients, and discharge following a set criteria. Support to complete nail surgery competency. An annual appraisal and personal development plan. You will be provided with peer support, continued professional development and regular clinical supervision. Attendance at Nottinghamshire wide team meetings and training days including POMs and LA updates. Internal opportunities for career advancement.

Other opportunities within Nottinghamshire:

Rotate into Podiatric Surgery, Community based Foot Protection Team and Diabetic MDT hospital based clinics. Work in a variety of clinical settings within the Nottinghamshire area, both domiciliary, clinical and hospital settings. Must be able to meet the physical and travel requirements of the position

All applicants will have full and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and hold a Degree or Diploma in Podiatric Medicine and a certificate for Local Anaesthesia or working towards. New or final year podiatry students welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be part of a highly motivated team, with mentorship working within a team and/or independently in both community, patients residence,  and acute settings, providing a high quality of clinical care.

To develop and implement individualised care programmes for patients with a wide variety of clinical needs, including acute or chronic, neuropathies, chronic diseases, vascular problems, wound management, MSK and Nail Surgery.

The post holder will be expected to plan and manage the caseload with the mentorship and support of a senior podiatrists.

Instruct clients and carers, providing direction and guidance on a range of Podiatry interventions independently with a variety of clinical settings including patients place of residence.

To assist colleagues with challenging clients or those with complex needs who require more than one person to treat.

To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with clients, relatives and carers. This will include clients who may have difficulties in understanding or with barriers to communication.

To provide administrative support to the Department duties e.g. maintaining stock levels and patient appointment bookings.

To access computer systems including Systmone, for the recording and actioning of patient information and treatment activity.

To submit accurate records of sickness, lieu time, study, expenses and annual leave.

To comply with the organisational and departmental policies and procedures and to be involved in reviewing and updating as required.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
