Main duties of the job
This is your chance to make a real difference to people living with complex, enduring mental health conditions who are experiencing acute, long term mental health problems within our inpatient rehabilitation services in Newcastle upon Tyne.
You will be a highly skilled and knowledgeable team player who is able to think holistically and creatively in order to deliver specialist assessment and management and physiotherapy service provision for service users who have a variety of complex physiotherapy needs, diverse presentations and a range of mental health, learning disabilities and /or neurological conditions, alongside our multi-disciplinary team.
Alongside the clinical leads and other colleagues, you will undertake the service development and implementation of evidence based core pathways within our inpatient rehabilitation service. Using research, innovation, and quality improvement.

Essential
- Skills in a range of appropriate standardised and informal assessments
- Proven ability to communicate effectively within multi-agency teams
- Highly developed communication skills
- Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions
- Risk Assessment/management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Clinical Leadership. Training & Induction of staff.
- Delegation skills.
- Debriefing skills.
- Teaching/Presentation skills.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Proven ability to manage a clinical caseload in a flexible manner as required.
- Experience of providing Physiotherapy services.
- Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and CSP standards and other local and national initiatives
- Experience of supervising students / non registered staff
- Awareness of equal opportunities legislation and policies
Desirable
- Knowledge of involving service users/ carers in evaluation/planning and monitoring of services
- Clinical experience relevant to this role
- Knowledge of audit, research and evaluation
Education and Qualification
Essential
- Recognised Physiotherapy Degree Qualification or Equivalent
- State registered with HCPC
- Further relevant post qualifying training.
Desirable
- Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
