An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Physiotherapist who has the appropriate stroke skills and knowledge to join the Therapy team. The Hyperacute Stroke Unit and the Acute Stroke Unit at Whiston Hospital are consistently rated in the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme as two of the leading Stroke Units in the country. The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills, be able to communicate effectively, have the ability to prioritise and demonstrate their organisational and time management skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work both individually and as a member of a team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will:

  • Deliver a high standard of evidence based care
  • Be able to carry out complex holistic assessments
  • Make prompt clinically reasoned decisions
  • Participate in the discharge planning process, facilitating the patient’s discharge to the most appropriate environment for their needs
  • Supervise staff within the team and students on placement
  • Have evidence of post graduate training
  • Have the ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing working patterns as the team work their hours across a 7 day rota, participating in late shifts (11am-7pm)
  • Have a working knowledge of a broad range of conditions with proven clinical skills in this specialist area
  • Minimum of 18 months postgraduate experience.
