The Role:

An exciting and innovative opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist (PT) to join the Stroke and Neurosciences Therapy Team has come up under the Annex 21 Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions. The role is offered as a 12-month accelerated training and education opportunity to become a Band 7. With successful completion of the competency framework resulting in a permanent position as a Band 7 PT within the Stroke and Neurosciences Team at Newham Hospital.

As per Annex 21, during the 12 months of training, your starting salary represents 75% of the maximum of Band 7. You will remain on 75% pay of the maximum of Band 7 until successful completion of your competencies when you will be moved to 100% of the minimum Band 7 pay.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical abilities, neurological conditions, and rehabilitation needs.
  • Develop tailored treatment plans, utilizing evidence-based techniques and therapeutic interventions.
  • Deliver one-on-one and group therapy sessions to enhance patients' mobility, coordination, strength, and overall function.
  • Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Nurses, to provide holistic care.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families, empowering them to actively participate in the rehabilitation process.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental policies, protocols, and research initiatives.
