An unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join the Pharmacy department at St Georges University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will need to be flexible and organised, be able to align their values with those of the organisation, work well within a team and have a positive attitude.

Working with the Pharmacy Operational Manager – IT, you will develop, maintain and improve data quality frameworks across pharmacy systems, ensuring compliance with national and local standards. You will maintain and update digital medicines systems which include Omnicell cabinets, BD Robotics, GHX Powergate, BD Cato, Episys Labelling System and CMM Medicines Management System. You will have the opportunity to identify, evaluate and implement new data tools, AI technologies and analytics methodologies for use within the Pharmacy department.

The Pharmacy department at St George’s is highly regarded across the Trust and region, with around 270 staff members working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. The department is friendly, forward thinking and constantly expanding with opportunities for personal and professional development including postgraduate education.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in troubleshooting IT issues and providing IT system support
  • Experience with pharmacy informatics systems
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and data modelling techniques
  • Experience in utilising SQL for reporting and data analysis for pharmacy
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting complex healthcare information and presenting it in a simplified manner
  • Experience of training staff
  • Experience of Pharmacy stock control management
  • Experience in implementing and managing change

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Pharmacy Computer Systems
  • Experience with using web-based reporting interfaces
  • Experience with using automated drug cabinets (such as Omnicell or BD Pyxis) at a super-user level
  • Experience of handling, analysing, and manipulating large, complex datasets
  • Demonstrable experience of supervising and managing staff / teams

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3 plus an accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences)
  • Higher apprenticeship or post-graduate qualification in Data Science, Data Analytics or equivalent; or relevant post graduate professional qualification or equivalent experience
  • GPhC Registered pharmacy technician
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice

Desirable

  • Post Graduate certificate in management studies or equivalent short courses, or equivalent experience
  • Educational Supervisor
  • Formal management qualification
  • Recognised qualification in data analytics

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • able to analyse and interpret highly complex data where there are a range of facts requiring analysis and where a range of options need to be compared/considered
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office software with proven computer literacy and IT skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Highly developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams
  • Ability to manage your own time, prioritise and plan work effectively alone and for a team including the ability to delegate appropriately
  • The ability to initiate and implement change

Desirable

  • Knowledge and a strong interest in informatics, analytics and programming, underpinned by significant experience and/or theoretical study
  • Knowledge of BI reporting software such as crystal reports, business objects or PowerBI
  • Knowledge using IT to manage pharmacy services
  • Proficient in the use of CMM Stock Control
