We are seeking a motivated and forward‑thinking Specialist Pharmacist to join our team, delivering clinical pharmacy services within the RRCV (Renal, Respiratory, Cardiology, Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU), Vascular and Specialist Surgery) Clinical Management Group (3 days per week) alongside an exciting opportunity to work as a Teacher Practitioner at De Montfort University (2 days per week).
The post‑holder will provide clinical pharmacy input within RRCV, supporting safe, effective and patient‑centred use of medicines across inpatient and outpatient settings, in line with the Specialist Pharmacist role. Alongside this, the post offers a funded opportunity to contribute to the delivery of undergraduate pharmacy education at De Montfort University, supporting teaching, learning and student development.
This unique split post combines clinical practice and education, offering the opportunity to develop skills in teaching, training and professional development while maintaining a strong clinical presence within a specialist service. The role is essential to maintaining safe clinical services and supporting workforce development across both the Trust and academic partner.
Main duties of the job

Based primarily at Glenfield Hospital.
Join our dynamic RRCV pharmacy team and take advantage of a structured rotational programme across five specialist areas: Renal, Respiratory, Cardiology, Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU), Vascular and Specialist Surgery. Each rotation lasts six months, giving you the chance to develop broad, in‑depth expertise.
You will be fully supported to progress both clinically and professionally, working closely with experienced specialist pharmacists and an engaged multidisciplinary team.
Contribute to the delivery of undergraduate pharmacy teaching, supporting the development of clinical knowledge, skills and professionalism in pharmacy students.
Facilitate teaching sessions, workshops and clinical skills training aligned to the MPharm programme.
Support student learning in clinical practice, acting as a role model and linking clinical experience to academic learning.
Work collaboratively with university staff and Trust colleagues to support integration of clinical practice and education.
Shared Responsibilities Across the Role
Contribute to audit, research and service development activities within both clinical practice and education.
Promote a culture of continuous learning, quality improvement and evidence‑based practice.
Maintain professional development and actively work towards advanced clinical and/or educational practice.

You will utilise your clinical skills and experience by providing clinical pharmacy services to wards and other areas, assisting with the training and development of others and supporting the improvement of the services. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and will help maintain the high standard of services that are already provided. Independent Prescribing is integral to our pharmacist’s roles. In this post you will have the opportunity to develop your clinical knowledge and specialist skills.
Post holder will be expected to contribute towards evening, on-call, bank holiday and weekend rotas.

Training & Qualifications
Essential
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in pharmacy
- Pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Post-graduate certificate in Clinical Pharmacy / Pharmacy practice or evidence of equivalent clinical experience
- Working towards completion of a Post graduate Diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy/ Pharmacy practice
- Evidence of post registration commitment to continuing professional development
- Registered as an Independent Prescriber or ability to complete training upon appointment

- Membership of a professional body e.g. MRPharmS or UKCPA or equivalent specialist group
- Evidence of Practice Research projects undertaken
