If so University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Pharmacy Department has a 6 month secondment available working in Acute Medicine and Respiratory as a specialist pharmacist (start date 1st November 2026)

Our UHBW Bristol site is comprised of 7 hospitals in Bristol city centre, providing local and regional acute services for South Bristol, South West England and parts of South Wales.
We are looking for motivated new team members to join our specialist clinical rotational pharmacists. Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate post-registration experience in clinical practice with development against the RPS Foundation Pharmacy Framework or to certificate level of postgraduate clinical diploma, will be GPhC registered and be able to demonstrate their experience in clinical practice through application and interview showcasing their readiness to move into a more specialist role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide pharmaceutical advice to acute and respiratory medicine areas and will look to develop the clinical service and further their own development in these areas. This role will provide leadership to the pharmacy medicine team at various points in the week co-ordinating the workflow and junior pharmacist assignments to optimise patient experience and hospital workflow. You will contribute to clinical projects, quality improvement programmes and teaching through developing management, leadership and educational skills in conjunction with lead pharmacists in medicine.
As a member of the pharmacy team, you will be required to provide general pharmaceutical duties to the various sections of the pharmacy department providing leadership and supervision for supporting staff. The post holder will be required to participate in the pharmacy department late, weekend, on-call and bank-holiday rotas.

Experience
Essential
- Evidence of UK clinical hospital pharmacy experience
- Experience of audit, quality improvement and/or project work
- Experience of one-to-one and/or small group teaching
Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Masters degree in Pharmacy.
- Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Postgraduate certificate (or equivalent) in Clinical Pharmacy.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable
- Membership of a relevant professional Pharmacy group or body
- Postgraduate Diploma, Master's degree or equivalent in Clinical Pharmacy
- Independent Prescriber
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Ability to operate multiple clinical digital systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Problem identification and solving.
- Prioritisation and task management
- Able to critically analyse prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, and to use clinical judgement to challenge and influence prescribing
- Can organise own and others work to meet agreed deadlines and targets
- Ability to make safe and clinically relevant decisions in high pressure environments
- Ability to manage a small team of foundation pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on a daily basis
- Ability to critically analyse different approaches to problem solving to inform project work (including audit and research)
- Knowledge of common conditions encountered in area of practice and of safe and appropriate drug treatment
- Knowledge of the legal framework for the dispensing, prescribing and administering or medicines
