A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a split post between our Special schools and Secondary schools therapy teams. Both teams are part of the wider Children's therapies team, a supportive and dynamic team with many professional development opportunities.
This post offers a unique opportunity to develop a wide repertoire of clinical skills.

- Experience of, and specialist skills working with, a diverse paediatric caseload
- Experience in developing and delivering universal and / or targeted level offers, preferably within special schools and/or mainstream schools
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team
- Ability to work flexibly and independently where necessary
- Enthusiasm, imagination, and initiative
The role will encompass supervision and and support of junior speech and language therapists as well as speech and language therapy assistants. The post holder will also support the development and evaluation of service delivery.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake specialist paediatric assessment of children/students on own caseload, who may have complex presentations and from this assessment to formulate a treatment plan and carry out this treatment as an autonomous practitioner.
- To work closely with teaching staff, parents/carers and other MDT members to support each pupil.
- To supervise and support undergraduate students, and be involved in teaching MDT staff as well as those from other agencies.
- To support the implementation of evidence-based projects, including making recommendations for change in practice and participating in departmental research and audit as appropriate.

Experience
Essential
- Relevant specialist experience post qualification e.g. ASD population
- Experience of working with children with special needs in an educational or multidisciplinary setting (e.g. clinic)
- Experience completing assessments and developing intervention plans
Desirable
- Student supervision / clinical education
- Experience supervising junior staff e.g. therapy assistants, NQT
- Teaching experience of in-service programs
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language therapy
- HCPC registration
Desirable
- Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
