Specialist Children's Physiotherapist – 16 hours/week term time only. There is flexibility on the days these hours can be worked, however, Wednesdays must be a working day.
The Therapies in Schools (TIS) team are based in 11 special schools across West Sussex. The team works alongside existing NHS Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy services and enables schools, families and therapists to work in partnership to deliver life learning opportunities that blend the child's educational aspirations with their therapeutic needs. TIS Physiotherapists work with children and young people and their school staff to aim for optimal postural management throughout the school day, to provide programmes and work with children and young people in the pool and to support Rebound Therapy in schools.

Main duties of the job
Main tasks include -
- a) To undertake work alongside school staff for agreed caseload. b) To work as part of the multi-disciplinary teams to improve further the integrated holistic and child centred approach of the allocated special schools c) To increase confidence and skills of school-based education staff to deliver physiotherapy programmes d) To increase parental confidence in the quality of provision provided within the schools e) To deliver large scale and bespoke training to educational staff, parents and carers

Person specification
Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 4 years post qualification specialised in paediatrics.
- Experience of working with children with complex neurological conditions
- Experience of working with schools and educational settings, including report writing for SEN
- Evidence of staff supervision and training.
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and high-level understanding of team dynamics.
- Experience of providing training and presenting information to colleagues in a transdisciplinary team.
- Experience of working in a multi-agency setting.
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree/Diploma equivalent
- HPC Registration
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio appropriate to specialist field
- Post registration qualification in area of specialist field
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Excellent knowledge of assessment and treatment tools and specialist treatment approaches
- Excellent knowledge of specialist equipment for use within paediatrics
- Demonstrates working knowledge of relevant legislation such as Manual Handling, Health and Safety
- Good IT skills
- Excellent organisational skills.
- An understanding of the principles of equal opportunities in relation to staff and patients
Desirable
- Competency and ability to assess and treat wide range of complex conditions within paediatrics
