Job overview

We are pleased to offer an exciting 9-month opportunity for a Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian to cover a fixed-term vacancy at Evelina London Hospitals, starting October 2026. This 0.6 WTE role provides the chance to gain valuable experience working as part of the specialist paediatric diabetes dietetic team.

We are seeking a motivated, adaptable, and enthusiastic dietitian with a strong passion for paediatrics and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teamwork.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside a Band 7 Dietitian,  playing a key role within the Paediatric Diabetes Team at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, supporting children and young people (0–16 years) with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, including MODY.

The post holder will provide specialist, evidence-based dietetic care across inpatient and outpatient settings, delivering comprehensive nutritional assessment, individualised advice, and complex case management. This includes active participation in ward rounds, multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions, and outpatient clinics (both virtual and face-to-face).

A core aspect of the role is providing expert education and support to patients, families, and carers, helping them to manage diabetes confidently in everyday life. You will also contribute to the education and training of healthcare staff, as well as professionals in community settings such as nurseries and schools, ensuring consistent and high-quality care.

Working closely with a supportive MDT—including consultants, specialist nurses, psychologists, family support workers, and youth workers—you will ensure coordinated, patient-centred care. The role also involves liaising with community teams to support safe discharge planning and continuity of care.

Strong communication skills are essential, enabling you to deliver tailored education and guidance to diverse populations, while supporting both families and colleagues with complex nutritional and clinical needs.
