Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, paediatric audiologist to join our friendly, hardworking team of audiologists, assistants and clerical staff.

The applicant should work both independently and with senior staff members to provide a hearing aid service for the local paediatric population.

This involves clinical assessment and management of a diverse range of paediatric patients across the age group of 0-19, including complex and difficult to test patient groups. Liaising with a range of health care professionals including hearing support teachers, speech and language therapists, school screeners and undertaking clinical supervision and training of students and trainee staff as and when required.

The post holder should be registered with the AHCS or HCPC and be able to demonstrate a commitment to ongoing CPD.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide the full range of audiological clinical diagnostic tests providing factual interpretative reports as required, as well as being involved in the rehabilitation of patients with hearing impairment. They will independently lead routine clinics and hearing aid clinics and assist senior staff in complex clinics including Audiovestibular Physician-led clinics.

We expect the post holder will contribute to general departmental procedures including triaging and stock control. To maintain departmental database and spreadsheets and to work with and communicate effectively within the multi-disciplinary Paediatric Audiology team.

The post holder should support evaluation and development of the service, participating in the introduction of new technology and procedures, and taking an active part in staff meetings to include regular journal clubs and case-based discussions.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential

  • BSc in Audiology (CAC/STP/HTS) or BAAT part I+II with BTEC Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement or Equivalent
  • HCPC registration as Clinical Scientist (Audiology) or AHCS registration as Audiologist
  • Experience in Paediatric Audiological testing including both Objective and Behavioral assessment. Knowledge and skills in Paediatric hearing aid fittings and habilitation
  • Clinical experience and knowledge in Paediatric Audiology

Desirable

  • Evidence of further training specific to paediatric Audiology
  • Training in BSL, Level 1 or 2.
  • Qualified Clinical Educator or willing to undertake recognised clinical educator course
