** Fixed Term/Secondment Opportunity until 23/02/2027** We are looking for a fulltime band 6 orthoptist to work as part of our dynamic team of 5 orthoptists, thirteen consultant ophthalmologists and four optometrists. You will be involved in all aspects of the Orthoptic Service, which includes both Paediatric and Adult strabismus services.
The hospital is a busy district teaching hospital, with links to the Medical School and the University of East Anglia. Our department is also committed to the teaching and supervision of undergraduate orthoptic students. The department fully supports continued professional development and is active in audit and research.
Norfolk is a wonderful place to live and work, with scenic coastlines, open countryside, rural villages, the picturesque Norfolk Broads. The city of Norwich with all the facilities of a major commercial and thriving cultural centre still manages to be a friendly and easy-going place to live, and despite its medieval architecture, the city has a vibrant and youthful outlook.
Main duties of the job
To provide comprehensive, high quality Orthoptic services as an autonomous practitioner and to work as an effective member of the Orthoptic team in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with ocular motility disorders and amblyopia; to develop and monitor effective treatment plans using specialist skills based on clinical and analytical reasoning and using evidence-based practice.
To participate in the clinical supervision of undergraduate orthoptic students as required.
Requirements:
A degree or diploma in orthoptics and State registration with the HCPC is essential.

- To be registered with Health and Care Professions Council.
- To possess Batchelor of Science in Orthoptics BSc(Orth) BMedSci (Orthoptics) or Diploma from British Orthoptic Council (DBO).
- Training to post graduate diploma level or equivalent e.g., attendance of courses such as ‘Understanding Autism, Asperges and ADHD’
