As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care that supports patients to regain independence and achieve safe discharge from acute services. Working as an autonomous practitioner, you will manage a specialist caseload while contributing to a collaborative multi-disciplinary team. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
  • Five out of seven days a week, including weekend working
  • These posts require the post holder to participate in seven-day working/extended hours working
  • Please note the salary is pro rata for part-time hours

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a complex specialist caseload providing assessment, treatment and discharge planning to maximise patient independence
  • Work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver effective and coordinated patient care
  • Assess patient needs, including equipment provision and rehabilitation requirements, ensuring safe and appropriate interventions
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to audit and quality improvement initiatives
  • Provide leadership, supervision and support to junior staff, students and support workers
  • Contribute to service development, clinical guidelines and continuous improvement within the Occupational Therapy service
  • Communicate complex clinical information effectively to patients, carers and colleagues, supporting informed decision-making

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration
  • Significant postgraduate experience including work within a relevant clinical speciality
  • Demonstrable experience in supervision, leadership and supporting staff development
  • Strong clinical assessment, reasoning and decision-making skills within complex care environments
  • Experience in audit, research or quality improvement activity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and autonomously
  • Competence in IT systems, including Microsoft Office and clinical recording systems
