Job overview

The Specialist Midwife for Perinatal Pelvic Health will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to support the day-to-day management and ongoing development of the OASIS and Perineal Trauma Service.

The post holder will provide specialist evidence-based care and support for women with childbirth related perineal trauma and pregnancy related bladder and bowel dysfunction. They will act as a clinical expert, educator and advocate for best practice, supporting staff development and contributing to quality improvement, audit and service innovation across maternity services.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist support and care for women with perineal trauma and pelvic health concerns.
  • Lead and support the development of the OASIS and Perineal Trauma Service.
  • Deliver education, training and competency support for midwives and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Support the implementation of evidence-based practice, guidelines and care pathways.
  • Work collaboratively with physiotherapy and multidisciplinary teams to improve pelvic health outcomes.
  • Undertake audit, quality improvement and service development work.
  • Provide clinical leadership and expert advice within maternity services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Midwife to join the Family Care Division as a Band 7 Specialist Midwife – Perinatal Pelvic Health on a permanent 37.5 hour per week basis.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and developing the Perinatal Pelvic Health and Perineal Trauma Service, providing specialist care for women experiencing childbirth related perineal trauma and pelvic health concerns. The role includes clinical leadership, education and training, service development, and collaborative multidisciplinary working to improve outcomes and experiences for women and families.

  • Experience of working with women in high risk pregnancy

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife having had experience at band 6 or above
  • Post graduate education or the equivalent experience to this level
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development (CPD)

  • Evidence of specialist knowledge and training pertinent to the role
