We are excited to recruit a 7.25PA Specialist Doctor in Oral Surgery to provide excellent care to our patients. This would be an excellent opportunity for Higher Trainees who have completed their training or an established speciality doctor seeking a career change.
We expect the right candidate to be a role model and be to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team through effective communication and influencing skills. The postholder is expected to work autonomously and provide training for junior colleagues.
With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.
Main duties of the job
To provide high-quality clinical care to our patients and ensure that the departmental vision is maintained in line with National and Local policy.
We expect the right candidate to be a role model and be to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team through effective communication and influencing skills.
This role requires a highly skilled and experienced oral surgeon, who will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and under the care of consultant oral & maxillofacial surgeons.
To work with the Consultants to look at innovative ways to improve the service we provide for our patients.

Person specification
Knowledge:
Essential
- Fellowship or equivalent experience
- Proven clinical experience in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, with a broad experience of the speciality
Desirable
- Up to date knowledge of the reformed NHS
- Evidence of knowledge of health and safety and clinical governance agenda
- An understanding of GIRFT in relation to Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Experience:
Essential
- Completed a minimum of 12 years medical work (either in continuous or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of six years should have been in Oral Surgery in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades
- Equivalent experience in Oral Surgery in other grades including overseas may be accepted
Desirable
- Previous presentations and/ or publications
Education and qualifications:
Essential
- MBBS / MRCS / FRCS or equivalent medical qualifications
- Full registration and license to practice with the General Medical/Dental Council (GMC/GDC)
Desirable
- Higher degree
- Relevant experience
- Clinical research experience
