We are looking to recruit a self-motivated and committed Dietitian to join our friendly and proactive department.

We have an opportunity to join our Team as a Specialist Band 6 Dietitian, and provide a comprehensive nutrition and dietetics service across our three hospital sites. This position is part of an expanding team with the opportunity to help shape the future of the service.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist dietetic support to patients within the acute setting, working closely with the MDT providing specialist advice.

To make assessments using a variety of sources of information and to provide results of assessment in verbal and written formats.

To maintain a holistic approach to patient care and involving relatives, carers and appropriate care agencies whenever possible in the treatment plans and programmes

To be an integral member of the dietetic team working to ensure optimal nutritional care for patients as a key determinant of recovery and outcome.

Participation in training and education, including supporting students and Dietetic Assistant Practitioners.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or Post -graduate Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered Dietitian by HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council).
  • Minimum of 6 months post- graduate experience in general Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Evidence of relevant post-graduate clinical education
  • Trained in facilitated learning for Undergraduate Practice Placements.
  • Motivated to maintain Continuing Professional Development

Desirable

  • BDA membership with membership of a BDA Interest Group

Clinical Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Able to work safely and effectively without direct supervision but with senior staff guidance
  • Able to plan workload and supervise assistants and students
  • Ability to work within a multi- disciplinary team and to plan and action patient-focused care pathways.
  • Communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Ability to teach effectively
  • Advanced clinical reasoning skills.
  • General dietetic experience including, enteral feed, complex nutrition support patients, and multi- disciplinary team working

Desirable

  • Experience with Parental Nutrition
