Are you an enthusiastic dietitian with an interest in working with adults in the acute setting?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic dietitian to become part of the Acute dietetic team at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT),  working at Lister Hospital in East and North Hertfordshire.

This role is 9 months fixed term maternity cover. The successful candidate will work as part of the broader HCT Nutrition and Dietetic Service, which is Hertfordshire wide, delivering an inpatient service to a number of specialties.

Main duties of the job

The role focuses on inpatient and outpatient work including experience in the following areas:

  • ITU
  • Enteral and parenteral feeding in specialist areas such as stroke and gastroenterology
  • Home enteral feeding

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will work as an independent practitioner using a specialist level of knowledge and skills in the provision of a dietetic service to a caseload of inpatients and outpatients including critical care, stroke and gastroenterology

The role will involve providing support and training for newly qualified / student dietitians.

  • Experience of supervising or mentoring students
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary health care setting

Desirable

  • Experience working with parenterally fed patients.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • BSc Nutrition and Dietetics degree or equivalent
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Attained or working towards a postgraduate qualification in a specialist area or evidence of significant experience in a specialist area.

Desirable

  • Member of the British Dietetic Association
