An exciting opportunity has risen for 1.0 WTE band 6 dietitian to join the Paediatric Team at Nottingham Children’s Hospital (NCH).

We are looking for a forward thinking and enthusiastic dietitian to join our team. You will become an integral member of our supportive multidisciplinary team delivering high quality, patient centered dietetic care.

You will be part of an established and respected children’s diabetes service who support over 400 families across Nottinghamshire. The diabetes team compromises of two dietitians, 5 diabetes specialist nurses, a support worker, a family therapist and five consultants. The job is varied and includes providing dietary advice to families with children and young people, group education and teaching for schools/health care professionals. You will be a valued member of the team providing in and out-patient services and attending multi-disciplinary meetings.
There may also be opportunities to work with other specialities within the paediatric dietetic team
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You must have experience of working as a dietitian. You will need to have excellent communication and leadership skills, a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and workload and that of other members of staff within a supportive team. You will work alongside dietitians as well as dietetic technicians and dietetic assistants. We expect you to be enthusiastic, motivated and keen to develop your own skills and those of others.
As part of this role, it is essential that you will be able to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) accordingly to national and local guidance.

- Able to carry out anthropometric measurements accurately and use relevant equipment
- Able to use a computer keyboard and relevant computer programmes.
Experience
Essential
- Relevant post-graduate experience in specialist area
- stablished knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group.
- Demonstrates effective ability to prioritise a large caseload.
Communication
Essential
- Able to communicate with a range of individuals on complex matters
- Able to work within an MDT
Qualifications
Essential
- HCPC registered
- Qualified Dietitian ( degree, post-graduate diploma or equivalent)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
- Member of the BDA
- Validated courses
Analytical and judgement
Essential
- Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills including explaining, negotiating, motivating and training.
- Able to work as an integral member of dietetic and multi-professional teams, building relationships with patients/carers, and other staff
- Able to handle sensitive and confidential information and respond to people who are distressed or anxious
- Able to overcome difficulties in communication, including language barriers, and adapt approach to varying situations.
Planning and Organisational Skills
Essential
- Able to plan and organise own workload, including daily tasks and longer term strategic planning, despite interruptions and changing priorities.
- Able to plan and organise the work of allocated student dietitians
