We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Dietitian (Band 6) to join our large, friendly and dynamic dietetic team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT). We are pleased to be advertising a part time (22.5 hours/week) permanent position for a Specialist Dietitian (Band 6) to work within the Cystic Fibrosis and Speciality & Integrated Medicine (SIM) dietetic teams based at St Jamess Hospital. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Dietitian with excellent communication and team working skills to work as an integral member of the Cystic Fibrosis & SIM Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing highly specialist assessment and advice to patients within the Cystic Fibrosis Inpatient and Outpatient pathways (0.4WTE Cystic Fibrosis) and to the inpatient SIM dietetic team wards (0.2WTE). The LTHT SIM Dietetic team is a team of 8 Dietitians and 1 Dietetic Assistant. The team provides inpatient dietetic care in the specialities of general and acute medicine, respiratory medicine, infectious diseases and care of the older adult. The Cystic Fibrosis unit is a 12 bedded inpatient ward and you will be part of a strong, supportive ward-based multidisciplinary team who focus on educating patients on their self-management; therefore, excellent communication skills are required. The Cystic Fibrosis unit has expanded rapidly over recent years with almost 400 patients attending our services. We deliver highly specialist care for adults with cystic fibrosis including facilitation of successful transition of patients from paediatric to adult care. The successful candidate will be joining a team of 3 Cystic Fibrosis Dietitians who provide high quality individualised care to people with Cystic Fibrosis. Applicants will need to demonstrate an awareness of how a chronic illness can impact on an individual, their family or carers and have an understanding of the challenges this may bring. In addition to clinical work, you would be expected to input into appropriate MDT ward rounds, provide nutrition education to patient supp

There will also be opportunities to be involved in departmental and MDT initiatives/ working groups. Post registration experience of working as a Dietitian in the acute NHS inpatient setting providing nutrition support advice (oral and enteral) would be an advantage.
As part of this role, you will contribute to the supervision and development of rotational band 5 Dietitians and Dietetic Assistant based in the SIM dietetic team. You will also contribute to placement provision for A, B and C Dietetic learners and Apprentice Dietitians.
