Manchester Local Care Organisation are looking to recruit dynamic, motivated nurses to undertake the 12-month rotational Apprenticeship Specialist Community Public Health: School Nursing Qualification. Salary will be on a Band 5, though the Manchester School Health Service may be able to support staff to remain on their existing pay points. Studies will be undertaken at Manchester Metropolitan University for 50% of the course and the remaining 50% in practice. You will be employed on a fixed-term contract for the duration of the course. Successful applicants will complete an individualised learning programme which will be documented in their Personal Portfolio of Learning. The University's award will be a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health Nursing therefore studying at Level 7. The professional qualification will be registered on the NMC Professional Register. Applicants need 120 academic credits at Level 6 for MSc or should demonstrate the ability to study independently at Level 7. Applicants need to demonstrate relevant Continuing Professional Development. Internal (seconded) candidates must approach their Line Manager/Training Dept to discuss the potential for a secondment arrangement with their employer.
The apprentice will demonstrate the following to take place:
To take full advantage of the opportunities offered whilst in a practice placement to underpin the theoretical knowledge gained within the educational institute and its application to clinical
To take responsibility for identifying own learning needs under the guidance of the Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor
To seek out additional learning opportunities available in the community.
To demonstrate the achievement of NMC competencies necessary to practice within specialist post by completion of the
Attend university and successfully complete all assignments/exams.
Attend practice placement and successfully complete all practical competencies and practice portfolio.
