We have an Exciting opportunity for a Specialist Cardiac Physiologist in Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust to join the Cardiac Physiology Department in City Campus. You will be responsible for independently performing and reporting standard transthoracic echocardiograms, assisting with TOE procedures where required, and providing support and guidance to junior colleagues. You will also be expected to contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care through active participation in regular audit, training, and research and development activities within the service.
Main duties of the job
As a Specialist Cardiac Physiologist you will be responsible for delivering high-quality echocardiography in line with BSE guidelines, ensuring advanced echocardiographic assessments are undertaken in collaboration with the multidisciplinary cardiology team. You will be responsible for supporting research activity by ensuring the accurate provision of echocardiographic data in accordance with study protocols and requirements. You will be managing your own continuous professional development to maintain clinical competence and ensure up-to-date practice. In addition, you will be supporting the wider department by actively attending and contributing to clinical meetings, departmental discussions, and training sessions. You will also be responsible for ensuring adherence to current Trust policies and procedures in all aspects of your clinical practice.

Job responsibilities
Responsibilities of this job role
- To support the smooth running of the cardiac physiology service by ensuring efficient coordination of patient activity and contributing to the timely delivery of diagnostic pathways. You will also be responsible for maintaining organised workflow processes to support optimal departmental performance and patient experience.
- To contribute to the maintenance of high clinical standards by ensuring adherence to established quality assurance processes and supporting continuous service improvement initiatives. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, safety, and consistency within the imaging service.
- To support the safe operation of cardiac diagnostic environments by ensuring equipment readiness, reporting faults promptly, and following relevant safety protocols. You will also be responsible for contributing to the maintenance and smooth functioning of clinical systems and resources.
- To assist in the coordination of patient care pathways by ensuring effective communication across multidisciplinary teams and supporting timely access to diagnostic services. You will be responsible for promoting effective collaboration to enhance patient flow and service responsiveness.
- To support departmental governance activities by contributing to data accuracy, documentation standards, and compliance with organisational policies. You will also be responsible for assisting in maintaining high standards of record keeping and clinical accountability.
- To contribute to a well-organised and supportive working environment by assisting senior staff with operational priorities and ensuring day-to-day service requirements are met. You will be responsible for helping maintain an efficient, patient-focused service through proactive engagement with departmental needs.

Essential
- To be successful in applying for this role you will need:
- BSE Level 2 accredited Cardiac Physiologist, able to independently scan and report adult echocardiography.
- Experience in delivering high-quality adult echocardiography services.
- Familiarity with CHC reporting system (desirable).
- Experience with Philips and GE echo machines (desirable).
- Familiarity with TOMCAT booking system (desirable).
