Job overview
We are seeking a motivated, experienced Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist with previous NHS experience to join our Microbiology Department at Chesterfield as part of Derbyshire Pathology, a joint venture for Derby and Chesterfield laboratories which are both accredited to ISO 15189.
The department performs bacteriology, parasitology, serology, molecular testing and operates an extended working day and 24 hour on call service.

Main duties of the job
To undertake the day to day sample processing and analytical clinical investigations for Microbiology to the agreed standard of timeliness and quality. Supervise Band 5 Biomedical Scientists and support staff within their work area.
To engage in training of staff. To fully participate in on-call, out of hours and weekend duties. Familiarisation and understanding of ISO 15189 standards, Health & Safety requirements; audit and training/education techniques is essential.
Experience of utilising transformation methodologies to drive change and improve service delivery is also desirable. Proactive individuals, with drive and dedication will excel in this post.
Participation in on-call.
