Specialist Microbiology Biomedical Scientist | Pathology Department | Spire Bushey Hospital | Private Hospital | 6 Month Fixed Term Contract | 37.5hrs per week, Full-Time

Spire Bushey Hospital forms part of a 4 site portfolio, and is supported by and works alongside Spire Bushey Diagnostic Centre, Elstree Cancer Centre and Spire Pathology Centre – based on Centennial Park in Elstree - just 5 minutes from the main hospital site.

Duties and responsibilities (not limited):

The post holder will work as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, performing a range of microbiological techniques to support the clinical diagnosis of infectious diseases in accordance with established SOPs.

They will be expected to contribute to the delivery of training in line with the departmental training policy and to support Senior staff in maintaining a high-quality, efficient and effective service.

Once fully trained, the post holder will participate in the departmental shift rota, which includes weekend, bank-holiday and on-call duties.

Who we're looking for:

• You must be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with no restrictions on practice
• You must be experienced in Microbiology
• IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Medical Microbiology or equivalent, or working towards
• Awareness of serological and molecular techniques
• Experience of verification and validation processes
• 2 years’ experience post state registration experience is essential
• Excellent communication skills

Contract: 6 -month Fixed term contract

Working Pattern: Shifts include 09:00- 17:00 and 12:00 - 20:00, plus Saturday and Sunday 09:00 - 17:00
