Main duties of the job

The post holder will perform a wide range of paediatric respiratory and sleep investigations across outpatient clinics and ward settings. These include spirometry, bronchodilator response testing, full pulmonary function tests using body plethysmography and transfer factor, bronchial challenge tests, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), multiple breath nitrogen washout testing, induced sputum, exhaled nitric oxide testing,  hypoxic challenge tests, hyperventilation studies and earlobe capillary sampling. The role also involves setting up, downloading and analysing overnight saturation, capnography and multi-channel sleep studies.

In addition to clinical duties, the post holder will contribute to service delivery and development by supporting departmental audits, assessing new diagnostic equipment and participating in research and development projects, including clinical and non-clinical trials. The role will also involve contributing to service improvement initiatives and supporting the development of other staff.
