Job summary

Priory Hospital Preston is looking to recruit a Social Worker to join the team. This is a part time role of 30 hours.

Based in Bartle, near Preston, Priory Hospital Preston is a 50-bedded mental health hospital, offering an extensive range of services, delivered across four wards. We can support adult males and females with acute mental health needs and eating disorders, and specialise in the management and treatment of these conditions.

Job responsibilities

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients

  • To provide expertise and leadership in Safeguarding.
  • To bring clear focus on the rights of all service users and their families, including the ability to investigate, evaluate and learn from allegations to improve safety, dignity and compassion within the unit.
  • To work as part of the Multi- disciplinary Team focusing on prevention, early intervention, building resilience and self-care, reducing and delaying dependency.
  • To undertake assessments, care plans and where required Tribunal Report to determine eligibility and support the access to services under relevant social care framework.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • The successful candidate will be a qualified Social Worker with a degree-level qualification in Social Work and registration with Social Work England. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of current Mental Health Legislation, including the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005, as well as a solid understanding of safeguarding legislation, particularly the Care Act 2014. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to recovery-focused, multidisciplinary practice, emphasizing hope, control, and opportunity for those you support. A critical understanding of social work theories and intervention models is also essential for effectively working with individuals and their families.
