Job overview
We are a small, friendly, and dedicated team committed to providing the highest quality care to our patients. We are now seeking an experienced Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Outpatient Oncology and Haematology Unit on the Judy Beard Day Unit at Conquest Hospital.
Our unit consists of 17 patient treatment chairs/beds, designed to safely deliver and administer Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) and other supportive therapies.
Working pattern:
Secondment / FTE: 0.80 (30hours per week)
Monday to Saturday service — flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the unit.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated nurse leader who is passionate about oncology and haematology care, enjoys teamwork, and is eager to make a real difference in patients’ lives.
Main duties of the job
Ideally, you will have:
- At least two years’ recent and relevant experience within an oncology or haematology setting
- Comprehensive knowledge and skills to coordinate the day-to-day running of a SACT unit
- A completed SACT passport
- The ability and confidence to use clinical expertise and supported decision-making in the safe administration and management of SACT, including recognition and management of side effects
- The ability or willingness to develop triage skills for cancer patients
- A passion for providing strong, supportive leadership and promoting a culture of learning and excellence
