
Are you a registered nurse either band 5 or 6 with an minimum of 3 years experience in surgery?
An opportunity has arisen for a full time band 6 to work between our Nurse Led 24 bedded Day Case Unit and Surgical Pre Op Admissions our dedicated theatre admissions unit.
You must be punctual, flexible and committed to the role with a determination to ensure patients on the ward receive the highest standards of care.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking nurse with a dynamic approach to join our motivated and supportive team.
DSU admit and recover multiple specialties including General Surgery, Maxo Facial, Urology, Breast, Gynaecology Orthopaedic, Vascular & ENT
Our patients have varying degrees of dependency which will mean organising and prioritising care accordingly. You must be able to recognise and manage deteriorating patients and support junior staff in doing this.
Opening hours are Monday - Saturday 07.00-22.00 but staff must remain until the last patient has been discharged home or if the patient fails to meet discharge criteria is transferred to an inpatient bed.
General duties include supporting the Ward Manager and deputising in their absence. Undertake amendments to Healthroster, sickness and absence management, conduct monthly audits and ensuring action plans are delt with, staff appraisals, ensure mandatory and medical device training is undertaken and the unit maintains green compliance at all times.
Coordinating DSU, Surgical Pre Op Admissions, DSU escalation ward (inpatient escalation at times pressure within the trust) recovery and nurse led discharge of patients ensuring , safe, personal and effective nursing care is provided to our patients.
You must be professional at all times and have a desire to want to develop your experiencing of managing and leading a team.
You must have excellent communication skills and be able to liaise with patients, relatives and other members of the multidisciplinary team as well as your colleagues on the ward.
