JOB SUMMARY
To be responsible for providing care to people with a variety of clinical needs, e.g. vascular disease, structural and functional abnormalities, musculoskeletal, wound management/tissue viability, neuropathic, Nail Surgery.
To assist in the development and improvement projects in the Trust in conjunction with other Podiatry Staff.
To provide care in a variety of settings, e.g. community clinics, nursing homes and domiciliary settings and hospitals.
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To work in accordance with the HCPC Code of Professional Conduct, including scope of professional practice;
2. To carry out assessments of patients in a variety of settings, initiate and implement treatment plans and monitor progress;
3. To provide a high quality service and have individual responsibility and be professionally and legally accountable, for all aspects of podiatric clinical care for patients , delegating as necessary, and referring onwards when deemed to be appropriate;
4. To maintain patient records at a high standard ensuring that they are complete, legible and accurate;
5. To ensure all timely provision of statistical information on clinical activity in accordance with Trust Policy;
6. To be responsible for the care, maintenance and decontamination of instruments and equipment;
7. To observe all Health and Safety regulations and report accidents/hazards immediately to Podiatry Line Manager;
8. To provide foot health education advice to patients, relatives and carers;
9. To contribute towards a multi-professional approach in the management of patients with podiatry clinical needs.;
10. To provide clinical advice/support to the wider multidisciplinary team by maintaining effective communication;
11. To liaise with other professions with regard to the podiatry caseload and service developments;
12. Take responsibility for own continuous professional development;
13. To attend staff meetings, study days, training sessions and participate in postgraduate courses as required;
14. To participate in Staff Appraisal/Supervision Process;
15. To participate in quality improvement and clinical audit initiatives, as required;
16. To participate in Health Promotional activities/programmes, as appropriate;
17. To participate in research projects as required;
18. To participate in training of podiatry students and other staff as required;
19. To provide cover for colleagues as/when required;
20. To maintain adequate stock levels of materials and equipment;
RAISING CONCERNS – RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The post holder will promote and support effective team working, fostering a culture of openness and transparency.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The post holder will be required to

6. All employees of the trust are legally responsible for all records held, created or used as part of their business within the Trust including patients/clients, corporate and administrative records whether paper-based or electronic and also including emails. All such records are public records and are accessible to the general public, with limited exception, under the Freedom of Information act 2000 the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and the Data Protection Acts 1998. Employees are required to be conversant with the Trusts policy and procedures on records management and to seek advice if in doubt.
7. Take responsibility for his/her own ongoing learning and development, including full participation in KSF Development Reviews/appraisals, in order to maximise his/her potential and continue to meet the demands of the post.
8. Represent the Trust’s commitment to providing the highest possible standard of service to patients/clients and members of the public, by treating all those with whom he/she comes into contact in the course of work, in a pleasant, courteous and respectful manner.
9. Available / able to work any 5 days out of 7 over the 24 hour period, which may include on-call / stand-by / sleep-in duties, shifts, night duty, weekends and Public Holidays if required immediately on appointment or at a later stage following commencement in response to changing demands of the service.

Other duties of a similar nature and appropriate to the grade may be assigned from time to time.
It is a standard condition that all Trust staff may be required to serve at any location within the Trust's area, as needs of the service demand.
