We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our Ophthalmology Directorate as Service Manager. This is a key leadership role within one of the largest, most innovative and fastest‑growing Ophthalmology services in the region.

As Service Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across all non‑clinical aspects of the service. Working closely with the Deputy Operations Director, Operations Director, Clinical Director and service leads, you will drive high‑quality, safe and efficient delivery of care across our outpatient, diagnostic, surgical and treatment pathways.

You will play a central role in shaping service transformation, enhancing patient flow, supporting workforce development, and ensuring that performance, quality and financial targets are consistently met. Main duties of the job

Lead and manage non‑clinical teams, fostering a supportive and high‑performing culture.

Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services, teaching and research.

Drive delivery of activity, waiting time and performance targets.

Lead service redesign, improvement projects and innovation across the directorate.

Manage financial and workforce resources, including budgets, recruitment and workforce planning.

Oversee service planning, business cases and annual reports in line with Trust and national priorities.

Ensure robust communication channels within the directorate and with external partners.

Champion equality, diversity and patient involvement across all areas of service.

Ensure that the operational and financial requirements of the service/s are effectively managed and co-ordinated.

Lead and coordinate the delivery plans for the service/s ensuring that service capacity is well used, and information reporting requirements are met.
