
The successful candidate will have operational responsibility for the Clinical Biochemistry service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The main Blood Sciences service is situated in the brand-new Centre for Laboratory Medicine (CfLM) building on the St. Jamess Hospital site, where this role will be based. Blood Sciences services are also delivered from the acute hospital laboratory at the Leeds General Infirmary. Reporting to the Service Manager, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with other key scientific and clinical staff to deliver a 24/7 Blood Sciences service and deputise for the Service Manager when required.
Key responsibilities include:
Operational responsibility and managerial oversight of a large multi-site and multi-disciplinary department.
Lead on governance and training related activity, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
Line manage a large multi-disciplinary team of Biomedical Scientists and other scientific and admin staff.
Management of a delegated budget for the Blood Sciences service and represent the department as an authorised signatory for amounts governed by the Trusts standing financial instructions.
Contribute towards overall service development through active participation and leadership in a range of people governance procedures consistent with Trust policies and on-going projects as part of the NPP network of clinical laboratories.
