The Senior Clinical Staff Nurse has delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical areas including assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards on a shift basis.

The Senior Clinical Staff Nurse will participate in innovation and evidence based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team in close liaison with the ACP Clinical Nurse Specialist , Matron  and Junior Sister/Charge Nurse

The Senior Clinical Staff Nurse will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.

The Senior Clinical Nurse will share the role for the implementation of education and development plans which involve the induction, mentoring, preceptorship and the ongoing professional development of all staff on the Unit.  This will also include ensuring robust systems are in place to record and monitor unit performance against agreed targets for Mandatory training

Main duties of the job

  • Manage and provide care for a patients receiving haemodialysis
  • Will work as part of the Mult disciplinary team to provide safe care to haemodialysis patients and participate in regular monthly MDT’s
  • Lead the shift to ensure flow and safety for the haemodialysis patients is maintained
  • Be part on the on call rota to outreach to critical care out of hours.
