Job overview

Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has a vacancy for a Senior Safeguarding, Public Protection & Mental Capacity Practitioner to join our exceptional team of skilled and passionate professionals.

We are seeking a registered practitioner with experience in mental health settings, a strong understanding of safeguarding processes, and well-developed interpersonal skills that foster teamwork. Most importantly, we are looking for someone with a genuine passion for empowering people through safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act.

This leadership role operates within a dynamic and supportive environment, committed to protecting individuals, upholding their rights, and promoting best practice across safeguarding, public protection, and the Mental Capacity Act (2005).

It’s a varied and impactful position within a team that shares strong values and a common goal: to keep people safe and ensure human rights are respected. Primarily office based at our new Trust Safeguarding Hub, the role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced practitioners in a collaborative setting — providing live support, sharing knowledge, and learning together.

This is a forward-thinking environment where your development is actively supported, your voice is heard, and your contribution is valued. If you’re ready to advance your career in a place where safeguarding practice is respected, continually evolving, and central to everything we do — we’d love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work with key professionals and partner agencies to develop and deliver safeguarding, public protection, and mental capacity processes that protect children, adults, and families.

They will provide expert advice and support on safeguarding children, adults at risk, domestic abuse, MAPP, Prevent, ASB, and the Mental Capacity Act. The role includes leading working groups, supporting staff, chairing MARACs, and participating in multi-agency safeguarding forums.

The postholder will supervise safeguarding champions, advise on HR matters including DBS and allegations management, support court processes, and take a lead on complex safeguarding cases. They will also deputise for senior safeguarding leaders as required.

They will support incident reporting, contribute to internal and external reviews, and provide specialist safeguarding supervision and training. Working mainly from the Trust Safeguarding Hub, they will coordinate responses and promote effective information sharing.

They will help develop and monitor safeguarding policies, contribute to audits and inspections, and ensure the Trust meets statutory requirements. The role includes promoting equality, diversity, and human rights and supporting quality improvement and governance agendas.
