Main duties of the job
As a senior member of the team, your role combines clinical precision with operational support to ensure the smooth running of the service. Your core responsibilities include:
Perform a comprehensive range of basic and complex respiratory investigations for patients across all hospital wards, including providing critical diagnostic support for critically ill patients in acute settings. Work closely with lead clinicians and senior colleagues to facilitate specialist testing, ensuring high standards of data accuracy and patient safety. Patient Management: Adapt your communication style to support patients with varying needs, maintaining a calm and professional environment even during high-pressure clinical situations. Take a proactive role in assisting the wider department, ensuring that clinical workflows are maintained and that team resources are used effectively. On non-clinical days, provide vital support to the Departmental data management, appointment scheduling, and the maintenance of patient records to ensure seamless service delivery. Act as a point of reference for junior staff and students, modelling best practices in both clinical technique and professional conduct. Manage the daily calibration and maintenance of diagnostic equipment, ensuring all tools meet stringent NHS safety and quality standards. Contribute to the ongoing innovation of the department by identifying opportunities to streamline administrative or clinical pathways.
