Job overview

The GMMH rehabilitation service seek an experienced OT to be part of the Home Engagement and Rehabilitation Team (HEART). The service is establishing a strong reputation for providing bespoke, intensive and individualised care to service users living with enduring mental health problems to enable them to live their lives to their full potential.

This is an exciting time for the division, with the opening of two new rehab housing projects planned for Dec 2026. This post will be integral to the changes and we would welcome applicants with leadership qualities and creative ideas, to support the ongoing development of the service. A specialist interest and experience in mental health rehabilitation is sought.

The post holder will offer clinical leadership to the team OTs and offer input / advice to the wider team, partner organisations and service users. There will be an element of general team leadership, included chairing zoning, MDT and safeguarding meetings. We also expect that the post holder will take a lead on the supporting the team to ensure rehab interventions offered to service users are goal orientated.They will lead on partnership working with VCFSEs and the integration of the peer support workers into the team.

The post-holder will have access to professional support and supervision from the Team Manager, Professional Lead for OT and Operational Managers with the Rehab Division as well as the Trust wide AHP network.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible, along with two other senior practitioners, for the day-to-day clinical leadership of a multi-disciplinary community mental health rehabilitation team. To ensure the team is integrated, flexible, user-focussed, and recovery-orientated to deliver a safe, effective, and high-quality service to service users with mental health needs. To contribute to service developments and support staff and the wider system through the changes.

To contribute to the assessment and review of service users in out of area rehab placements (OAPs) contributing to a target of minimising the use of rehab OAPS in the future.

Participation as a member of the division senior management team, in the overall management of rehabilitation services.

Participate in the service bronze on site / on call rota as required.
