We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist in Burns and Plastics at Southmead Hospital a regional Burns Unit and Major Trauma Centre.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills treating patients with the following complex needs and problems:
- acute adult burns and inhalation injuries
- scarring
- open limb and major trauma injuries
- oncology including sarcoma, skin and breast
- other conditions and injuries resulting in complex wounds or skin loss
- limb loss
Working within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team, you will be encouraged to develop your clinical practice, leadership skills and professional interests through a wide range of learning and development opportunities.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Physiotherapist in the Burns and Plastics team you will provide high-quality physiotherapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to patients within the burns and plastics caseload as well as inputting into relevant clinics and in reaching to burns patients in critical care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and prioritising your own complex clinical caseload.
- Working autonomously to assess, diagnose and develop patient-centred treatment plans.
- Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to support rehabilitation, discharge planning and patient flow.
- Delivering evidence-based physiotherapy interventions across a variety of specialist clinical areas.
- Supporting and supervising junior physiotherapists, support workers and students.
- Providing education, training and advice to colleagues, patients and carers.
- Contributing to service development, audit, quality improvement and clinical governance activities.
- Deputising for senior colleagues when required.
- Participating in weekend and respiratory on-call services.
