Job overview
MFT is one of the biggest, most ambitious, and progressive NHS Trusts in the country. We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.
You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual, who is an excellent team player, flexible, self-motivated, and able to demonstrate professionalism, excellent organisational and communication skills. You must be able to work accurately, quickly and under pressure, have a good eye for detail, be able to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and be committed to deliver a high standard patient focused service.
This role will include 1 in 5 Saturday working as part of a rota. Bank Holiday and On call working as part of a rota. Posts will be based the Oxford Road Campus, with the requirement of working across our other site at Wythenshawe.
Applications welcome from pharmacy technicians qualifying in the next six months and from registered pharmacy technicians in community settings who wish to develop their career at MFT.
This is a progressive role depending on experience and will begin as a Band 4 but will progress to Band 5 on completion of agreed criteria.
Main duties of the job
Working closely with Aseptic Services Specialist Senior Technicians, you will lead a team of technical staff and coordinate the preparation and supply of aseptically prepared products. Committed to high standards, you will ensure an efficient, safe and effective service is provided to patients. You will contribute to our ethos of providing a positive, forward thinking, and professional working environment in which staff work with each other and for each other. As a valued member of the team, you will be supported to develop your knowledge of aseptic services and managerial skills to progress in your career

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

What is a DBS Check?
A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:
Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.
Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.
Enhanced with Barred Lists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the children’s and/or adults’ barred lists.
Who Needs a DBS Check

The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.
