We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious candidate who is looking to build a career in aseptic manufacturing, to join our busy chemotherapy manufacturing team at Barts Health NHS Trust. The post holder must be keen to learn and develop with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will undertake a wide variety of roles within the unit including, but not limited to aseptic preparation, stock management, training and in-process checking. The post holder will be based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital supporting our well established, dedicated chemotherapy manufacturing unit.
At Barts Health we take pride in developing our staff to progress. Within the Pharmacy department we offer several opportunities to do this. You will participate in training initiatives to meet both individual and departmental goals. Once fully trained within the aseptic area, you will be enrolled onto the Science Manufacturing Technician (SMT) Level 3 course. Upon successful completion of the SMT Level 3 course individuals are eligible to be registered as a Registered Science Technician (RSciTech). This also allows you to be eligible to apply for one of our Band 4 roles when available.
Applicants must have GCSE, Maths, English and Science Grades 1-3. Previous experience of working in an aseptic production unit is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
- To support chemotherapy production activities following local procedures and in line with Good Manufacturing Practice requirements • To ensure effective stock management within CSU • To be responsible for receipt and distribution of chemotherapy stock in the Chemotherapy store and SBH Main Store. • Promote safe and cost-effective use of medicines by conforming to the principles of Good Distribution Practice and Stores Standard Operating Procedures
