Main duties of the job
- To take the leading role in the advanced assessment, treatment, and management of children with diabetes within inpatients and outpatients.
- To lead for diabetes transition services.
- To act as a clinical lead for the Paediatric diabetes services.
- To review and educate all children and young people.
- To develop comprehensive care plans for CYP.
- To be highly skilled in the advanced clinical assessment and advanced management of CYP with diabetes.
- To provide advanced information, education, advice, and support to the CYP, parents, ward staff and schools.
- Working in a demanding environment, the successful applicant will be required to:
- Lead on a designated clinic and independently manage a case load of CYPs.
- Use excellent communication skills.
- Have advanced and extensive knowledge and clinical skills to manage CYP with diabetes, aetiology, and treatment.
- Have experience of working autonomously and as a member of the nursing team/MDT
- Be confident and competent in their role and have a willingness to develop their skills.
- Have excellent organisational, prioritisation and problem-solving skills.
- Have the experience and expertise of supporting and teaching ward staff, families, and other professionals such as schools
- Have the ability to work flexibly and manage change in a positive and effective way.
- Demonstrate resilience with a fast paced and unpredictable workload.
- Lead in quality improvement projects involving audits. Manage junior staff.
- Hold strong leadership and management skills.
