Job overview

The GMMH rehabilitation service have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and innovative occupational therapist to be part of the Rehabilitation Division.  The postholder will work across a Level 1 and Level 2 service and provide comprehensive and individualised Occupational therapy assessment, formulation and SMART goals based treatment interventions. These interventions will be provided in a 1:1 or group setting both on the unit and in the community as appropriate.

The successful candidate will play a central role within the MDT to ensure high quality, recovery focussed care is delivered to service users in the units in order to optimise level of functioning and quality of life.

You will require  a good understanding of the principles of mental health rehabilitation and an awareness  of the delivery of Inpatient Rehabilitation mental health care.

The successful candidate will work Monday - Friday 8-4pm.

Full induction and training will be given as part of the role.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will:

  • Provide OT assessment and intervention to a designated caseload of service users with complex mental health and physical needs.
  • Provide comprehensive assessment using the MOHO model
  • Co produce an occupational formulation with the service user
  • Co produce SMART goals with the services user and MDT
  • Design and carry out treatment plan, involving other members of the MDT as appropriate.
  • Evaluate OT intervention.
  • To provide OT professional advice for MDT and support staff
  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the OT  service within the team, taking responsibility for defined projects
  • To regularly supervise OT students on fieldwork placement.
  • The post holder will maintain a recovery focus and will demonstrate skill and sensitivity  in the assessment of vulnerable service users with higher level of needs.
  • The post holder will play a key role in the development of the service, by assisting the leadership team in day-to-day operations, organising, leading, teaching, supervising and supporting junior colleagues.

Essential

  • Ability to work autonomously, set own prioritises and manage time effectively.
  • Assessment skills - standardised and funcitonal

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registration
