We are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Front Door Therapy Team at Lincoln Hospital. You will work within an experienced front door therapy team assessing patients from multiple specialities to facilitate discharge from the emergency areas. You must be someone who enjoys the fast pace of life as well as being a great decision maker and communicator. You must be flexible, innovative, highly motivated and above all be committed to improving the care and assessment of people living with frailty. The skills and knowledge of the Occupational Therapists are essential in supporting patients living with frailty and complex conditions and in assisting them in recovering from illness, to return home sooner with a safe and effective discharge plan based on their current needs and abilities, whilst promoting their independence and dignity, with the ultimate aim to improve the patient outcome and experience.
Main duties of the job
To use expert skills and knowledge part of a comprehensive MDT assessment to support the management of adults. To manage a complex caseload. To complete complex moving and handling assessments and/or demonstrating the use of moving and handling equipment with families and/or informal carers. This may also include identifying and completing access and environmental home assessments to identify and minimise potential risk, part of effective discharge planning. To use highly developed communication skills on a daily basis, to liaise with patients, families, carers and a broad multidisciplinary team. You will be required to work in a range of emergency assessment areas, responding to patients in a timely and proactive manner. To also support the junior members of the team including therapy assistant practitioners with the delegation of assessments, caseload management and to provide regular supervision. Your base will be Lincoln County Hospital but you will be required to travel to Pilgrim Hospital Boston as required to support the front door service. Service hours are 7 days a week from 8 am to 8pm and post holder is required to work within those hours to meet service needs. Standard driving skills to visit patients or transport equipment from one location to another. Ability to travel across Lincolnshire not serviced by public transport. Car driver.

Experience
Essential
- Relevant, varied post graduate Occupational Therapy experience within an acute NHS or Community setting
- Evidence of participation in Clinical Governance activities.
- Evidence of active involvement in service developments
Desirable
- Evidence of involvement in organisations which support clinical practice eg RCOT specialist section
- Experience of supervising staff
- Evidence of having taken a lead in service developments
- Experience of a range of clinical areas include general surgery, medicine, care of older people, orthopaedics community
Qulification
Essential
- Occupational Therapy DipCOT or BSc OT
- Occupational Therapy HCPC Registration.
- Willingness to complete postgraduate study relating to the clinical area.
Desirable
- BAOT Member.
- Practice Education certificate/ APPLE
- Willingness to undertake post registration study relevant to Frailty
- Masters in Occupational Therapy
