Job overview
Due to new investment, we are looking for an experienced occupational therapist to join our therapy teams covering Abbey Ward in Abingdon Community Hospital and Bicester Community Hospital.
We pride ourselves on providing high-quality person-centred rehabilitation to patients stepping down from an acute hospital, and work closely with community based teams to ensure patients have the support they need once they leave our ward.
Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will deliver high-quality, patient-centred occupational therapy within community hospital settings, supporting rehabilitation, independence, and safe discharge.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completing comprehensive assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions for patients with complex needs.
- Leading and contributing to effective discharge planning to support timely patient flow.
- Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and liaising with families, carers, and community services.
- Identifying and managing clinical risk, ensuring safe and person-centred care.
- Providing supervision and support to junior staff, assistants, and students.
- Contributing to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintaining professional standards and engaging in ongoing learning and development.
