We have an exciting opportunity to join the Derby Children's Continuing Care team (CCT) as a senior nurse. We are looking for a flexible, qualified Children’s Nurse to join the team.

Using your knowledge and experience you will be required to teach, support and supervise our team of Registered nurses and Family Support Workers providing bespoke care packages to individual children and young people.

Staff are required to care for children and young people weighing up to 70kg with 2 staff for manual handling purposes when required.

Staff are also required to wear Personal Protective Equipment including FFP3 masks when required.

You will be required to work a variety of clinical shifts including days, long days, nights, weekends, bank holidays and twilight shifts. The shifts are provided across Derby and Derbyshire and therefore the ability to drive is essential.

Due to the nature of the role staff are required to sign up to the DBS update service to ensure the safety of the children, young people and families we care for in the community.

Main duties of the job

The CCT provides specialist care to children and young people with complex health needs in the community setting. These complex health needs range from epilepsy, enteral feeding, tracheostomy care to full home ventilation and includes caring for children and young people with life limiting conditions.

Manual handling and the use of personal protective equipment including FFP3 mask wearing in cases where the children have aerosol generating procedures (AGP) is required for this role.

As part of the role manual handling of children up to 70kg will be required.

These shifts will be worked in the children's homes, nursery/schools or respite centre's either as a lone worker or working alongside members of the team when 2 staff are required for moving and handling purposes.

You will be required to act as a Key Worker for individual children with the support of a band 7 Clinical Lead Nurse, providing high quality, integrated assessment and ongoing support.

You will be expected to work in partnership and liaise with the multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team. We welcome applications for those who with the relevant qualifications and/or experience.
