Job summary
We are looking for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join us in the East Devon OPMH Community Team for a 4 month secondment period covering maternity leave. This is a great development opportunity for someone looking to gain experience with an OPMH Community Team.
You will be based in Exmouth at St Johns Court, though as a team we cover all of East Devon and there may be times when you will be required to work out of an alternative base within our area.
You will be responsible for managing and formulating the care of some of the most vulnerable people we are responsible for, many of whom will have complex and ongoing needs. You will use your skills and experience to deliver person centred care, which inspires hope & recovery. You will have direct experience of working with older adults in a community mental health setting for this role.
You will have extensive communication skills and experience in working with people who have dementia.
You will play a key role in a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team, working with multiple agencies. You will be confident working without supervision, with the knowledge to devise individual recovery plans for the people you see.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a clear and confident communicator, capable of interacting and working effectively with people who use our services, their families & carers, staff and stakeholders from all backgrounds.
You will be expected to manage a caseload of older adults, and provide evidenced based interventions for the patient, their carers and families and other professionals that may be involved.
There will be an expectation to cover duty across the service, which will involve managing urgent enquiries, and providing timely advice.
You will be required to complete assessments for patients with both functional and organic illnesses, have a clear understanding of the impact of these illnesses and how they may present.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will deliver high quality comprehensive mental health services. The role involves managing a defined caseload with a focus on providing expert assessment and treatment for people with complex mental health difficulties and their carers. This will include recovery coordination (design and co-ordination of treatment packages that are personalised and evaluated in line with payment by results). The liaison with a wide range of statutory and non-statutory agencies is central to this role. The post holder will contribute to the clinical leadership of the team, providing supervision for other members and participating in team and service development, and evaluation.

Experience
Essential
- Substantial experience of managing an extensive and complex caseload of clients with a range of complex mental health presentations.
- Experience of delivering model based psychological therapy (E.g CBT, ACT, CFT, DBT & SFBT.
Desirable
- Working within a community mental health setting in either the statutory or voluntary sector. Providing clinical supervision.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environment.
- Participation in user involvement in services.
Qualifications
Essential
- A professional mental health qualification and registration e.g. RMN, Social Work Degree or equivalent, BSc/Diploma in OT, SROT
Desirable
- Non-Medical Prescriber and/or another recognised therapy qualification
- Post graduate qualification relevant to specialism Clinical Supervision qualification
- Training to level 3 in Safeguarding Adults and children and young people: roles and competencies for Health Care staff
