Are you an experienced CAMHS or Adult Mental Health Practitioner?
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Mental Health Urgent Assessment Centre (MHUAC) for a Senior Registered Mental Health Practitioner.
You should have experience within a crisis mental health setting, working with Children and Young People or Adults, and demonstrate enthusiasm for working within the urgent care pathway. You will be committed to supporting the development of the MHUAC and improving access to a calm and safe alternative to the Emergency Department for individuals experiencing mental distress who have no identified medical need.
The role involves delivering high-quality, timely, evidence-based mental health assessments and developing plans to support safe patient recovery. Service users will receive a comprehensive assessment and be appropriately signposted to services that support their ongoing care.
You will be expected to provide professional practitioner supervision, build effective therapeutic relationships with service users and professionals, and offer expert clinical advice and support. In addition, you will provide leadership and guidance to the team whilst on shift, ensuring safe, responsive, and effective care delivery.
The interviews will be held either 27th or 28th July 2026.

- Implement evidence-based practice in the provision of treatment and care to clients.
- Be accountable for the clinical caseload using resources as appropriate.
- Select appropriate assessment tools for assessing specific client needs and risks.
- Demonstrate sound clinical decision-making skills that are in the interests of the client.
- Provide skilled clinical supervision to others.

- Demonstrating supportive and sensitive communication to patients, carers and staff, whilst demonstrating an understanding of the nature and effects of information
- Delegation whilst maintaining overall responsibility for patient care, where appropriate
- Demonstrate the ability to lead a clinical team
- Highly motivated and able to engage with service users and carers to improve outcomes

Experience
Essential
- Relevant experience of working with adults with mental health needs. Or clear evidence of substantial experience of working with individuals in crisis and skills that are transferable to both community/in-patients
- Sound knowledge of the national agenda for mental health
- Sound knowledge of clinical/risk assessment and understanding of Information Governance principles
Desirable
- Experience of working within mental health care
Qualifications
Essential
- Registration with relevant professional body (for nurses specifically: RMN or RNLD or RN: 1st Level Registration (NMC) or degree or equivalent)
- Current Registered Professional
- Evidence of specialised continued professional training (degree level) in clinical practice
