Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate Band 6  nurse to join our team working within an 8 bedded PICU that provides assessment and treatment for inpatients aged 18 and over, presenting with a mental health crisis.

This role is not for the faint-hearted, it will be challenging and pressurised; but ultimately it will be extremely rewarding and have an emphasis on providing a therapeutic environment which promotes the principles of person centred care that is least restrictive and recovery focused.

This job is currently only open to people who already work for the NHS in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly. We are committed to supporting our dedicated staff, so only current employees of the following organisations can apply:

  • Cornwall Foundation Trust
  • Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust
  • Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board

If you do not currently work for one of these NHS organisations, your application will not be considered at this time.

Main duties of the job

The post requires an individual with strong communication skills who has the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary ward team. This role requires someone who can work under pressure and be adaptable.

Applicants must have relevant experience of working within a mental health setting, be flexible, hardworking and compassionate with a desire to work in a fast pace environment.

You will be confident in delivering least restrictive, recovery focussed interventions, giving consideration to risk management and adapting to ensure care is personalised to meet individual need.

You will need to be a versatile practitioner who is committed to delivering a quality service, you will be reflective, articulate and an excellent team player. You will need to demonstrate skills in leadership and supervision.

You will have access to training and development opportunities, annual appraisals and clinical supervision.

If you believe you have the right attributes to accept the challenges that this position brings and you want to play a key role in service development, then we look forward to receiving your application.
