We currently have vacancies for Band 3 Senior Health Care Support Workers to join our dedicated and caring acute teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing exceptional care to children and young people.

Please note that all our current positions involve a full rota of day, night and weekend shifts.

As a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting children and young people with their healthcare needs. You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, delivering high-quality care in our Tertiary Children’s services.

Assessment centre date will be held on Wednesday the 15th of July.

Main duties of the job

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the clinical team with observations and treatments.
  • Assisting with personal care and ensuring the well-being of patients.
  • Providing emotional and practical support to children, young people and their families.
  • Helping maintain a safe, clean and supportive environment.
  • Working closely with other healthcare professionals in a team

Key Requirements to Apply: We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn, have excellent communication skills, and a positive, can-do attitude.

To be shortlisted for this role, you must clearly demonstrate on your application the following:

  • Maths qualification at GCSE A*-C / 4-9 or Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent.
  • English qualification at GCSE A*-C / 4-9 or Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Level 3 qualification (or higher) in any subject.
  • Acute caring experience in an acute healthcare or social care setting.
  • Experience or a passion for working with children and young people.

If you do not have previous acute care experience, we offer a 12-week Band 2 to Band 3 Trainee Programme. This programme will equip you with the necessary skills and experience to successfully transition into the Band 3 role. Please indicate on your application if you are interested in this programme

Essential

  • Effective and appropriate communication skills both written and verbal
  • Able to complete appropriate documentation accurately
  • Demonstrate an awareness of healthcare work and policies and procedures
  • Committed to providing high quality patient care
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision to a high standard
  • IT skills, basic word, Email, keyboard skills
  • Ability and willingness to undertake appropriate training within given time frames
  • Flexible and adaptable to change, able to work a range of shifts and moving across wards/unit dependant on clinical need
  • Able to demonstrate calm, caring patient manner / attitude
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to working within the healthcare setting
