An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Senior Fellowship in Paediatric/Teenage Young Adult (TYA) Oncology at UCLH. The post will run for up to 24 months from - (September 2026-August 2028 ). This is a 40-hour post (Monday to Friday) and there is no on-call commitment. This post is aimed at trainees who wish to develop further experience across a wide range of Paediatric/TYA Oncology as a bridge to becoming independent practitioners. The post is split between up to 12 months in the Children’s and Young People’s Cancer Services (CYPCS) at UCLH, and up to 12 months providing paediatric oncology support for the radiotherapy and Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) service.
The post is based in the TYA Haematology/Oncology Service encompassing inpatient wards, Day Unit and outpatient clinics. It is a 40-hour post: 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. There is no on-call commitment. However, the opportunity to join the hospital bank services, and occasionally take up locum out of hours shifts will be available.
The successful applicant will be expected to have a broad background in paediatric oncology and be able to manage acute complications of treatment (including oncological emergencies). Under the supervision of a consultant in Paediatric Oncology, you will work closely alongside a multidisciplinary team who also adds to the success of this service.
You will be expected to act as a senior decision maker, who is committed to teamwork and multi-disciplinary team working.
Main duties of the job
We encourage any research interest, as well as work on audits and service improvement projects.
This post is *not* eligible for GMC registration through the MTI route and all candidates must have full GMC registration in place before the post begins.
You will be joining a friendly team to provide an excellent service within UCL Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
You will work under the supervision of a dedicated consultant team, and alongside a multi-disciplinary team which includes Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Specialist Radiographers, Allied Health Professionals, and Clinical Oncologists.
This post will be comprised of 80% clinical activity and 20% for special interest activities, including disease focused research, service development projects, leadership and management skills training. As part of the job, you will have the chance to develop your independent practice in a variety of subspecialities: • Acute and chronic leukemias • Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas • Non-malignant haematology • Neuro-oncology • Sarcomas • Rare tumours • Bone Marrow Transplant (autologous and allogeneic) • CAR T cells therapy • Supportive care in radiotherapy/PBT

- General and Paediatric Haematology /Oncology experience
- Experience of managing treatment-related toxicities, delivering supportive care
- Experience of managing oncological & haematological emergencies
- Applicant should have at least 7 years post-registration clinical experience or post CCT, with relevant paediatric oncology experience (or equivalent) to allow them to work in senior leadership role
Desirable
- Middle grade experience in General Paediatrics
- Experience of acute paediatrics
