Job overview
We are looking for a highly experienced and self-motivated Senior Estates Project Manager with extensive construction work experience within the NHS and or Healthcare sector (or similar) in the built environment to be part of our Estates Capital Projects team. You will be site based full time and report to the Head, Deputy Head or senior team lead and have a strong track record with the delivery of construction projects, be a highly motivated, experienced team player with excellent financial and communication skills. You will be required to work on Capital & Estates Backlog projects on all the Trust sites. You will be working alongside Trust stakeholders to develop schemes, with responsibilities for procurement, control of design teams and be accountable for financial performance, programme and quality delivery and supporting on business case development. You will have a master's degree or equivalent in a Construction related field and evidence of CPD.
The Team are responsible for the delivery of the physical environment aspect of the Trust’s capital programme whilst achieving the objectives and visions of the organisation. The main challenge for the post holder will be to implement projects whilst minimising the operational impact on the Trust teamed with developing systems/processes to ensure best practice is adopted for all tasks undertaken.
Main duties of the job
- To support the Trust’s Head of Estates Capital Projects in managing the capital estates programme.
- Professionally accountable for estates project construction and implementation of delegated schemes within the trust’s investment programme to improve the environment for patients and staff.
- To work as a specialist professional as part of Capital Projects Team within the Estates Department.
- To provide expert and professional construction, project delivery and estates projects advice to stakeholders, directors, senior management, Trust boards and external agencies.
- To lead and manage a portfolio of healthcare and healthcare related projects ranging from £5,000 to £10,000,000 and upwards from inception to completion, including project management in line with trust process, procurement and management of design, production of cost and cost management, contract administration, management of supply chain contracts, site supervision and management of trust commissioning.
- To appoint and manage external professional consultants within an authorised budget as a budget holder.
- To oversee and manage project capital budgets, professional services, contractor works and physical assets as part of the trust capital programme.
- To be jointly responsible for reviewing, revising, producing and implementing processes and procedures to support good project delivery.

Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable practical experience in the delivery of projects and project management in a relevant and appropriate health service or similar environment.
- Demonstrable practical experience in the commissioning of new health service facilities and assets in a healthcare setting or similar environment including design, specification, construction and project management and contract administration.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of relevant health and safety legislation and the Construction and Design Management Regulations.
- Demonstrable leadership on large and complex construction projects, preferably within a healthcare environment.
- Demonstrable procurement experience of goods and services for complex construction projects.
Desirable
- Experience of the updated Building Safety Act, with knowledge of arrangements for High Risk Buildings.
Education/ qualifications
Essential
- A nationally recognised degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering or construction related discipline.
- demonstrable senior project management experience in a similar organisation.
Desirable
- Management qualification
- Membership of a professional institution such as RICS, RIBA, CIBSE, CIOB.
- Health and Safety Qualification or Certification
- Project Management qualification (E.G. Prince 2)
