This post is an opportunity for a Full Time Registered Dental Nurse to join a multidisciplinary team and support the speciality to ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care.
The successful candidate will be a Registered Dental nurse interested in developing the service to our patients. We would welcome any applications for this Band 5 role from those with 2 years post qualification experience in Dental Nursing and hold a recognised specialised post registration qualification such as Dental Sedation Nursing, Orthodontic Dental Nursing or Oral Health Education.
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and a compassionate nurse with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to help us to deliver outstanding treatment and care to our patients.

You will assist in our Orthodontics, Restorative and specialised clinics such as MDT clinic, as well as Oral surgery clinics, Day surgery theatre list, minor oral surgery operations and nurse led clinics.
You will be required to work in our busy outpatient department, delivering a high standard of care to a wide group of patients and sub-specialities.
The OMFS/Orthodontic department offers a friendly, MTD environment and presents opportunities for professional development.
GDC Registration needed.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job;
- Provide a high level of dental nursing care throughout the department. This will include patients with special needs, vulnerable children and adults, the elderly, mentally and physically disabled patients, patients suffering from terminal illness, infectious risk, medically compromised, anxious/phobic patients and people with challenging behaviour.
- Deliver a high standard of chairside assistance across the whole range of dental specialities within the department, supporting all grades of clinicians. Maintaining high standards of infection control throughout.
- The post holder will be expected to be adaptable to perform these duties and be able to work flexibly across the Trust sites.
The candidate needs to hold and maintain registration with The General Dental council (GDC) as a Dental Care Professional and show evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of professional CPD.

- Good Secondary school level education
- Examining Board Dental Nurse National Certificate of Dental Nursing/NVQ level 3 dental nursing certificate or equivalent
- GDC Registration
- NEBDN or recognised specialised post qualification 3
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience and knowledge of a wide range of dental procedures
- At least 2 years post qualification experience
- Experience of working in a hospital setting
Desirable
- Oral health education qualification
- Intra-venous sedation qualification
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Sound knowledge of Infection control and decontamination procedures
- Prior experience of coaching/mentoring peers and carrying out 1:1’s

- Familiar with a wide range of computer software
