The Senior Cyber Security Engineer is a highly technical role, being responsible for developing and maintaining technical cyber security aspects of infrastructure and networks within The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, as well as implementing a “security-by-design” model on all new infrastructure and networking projects.
Main duties of the job
- The main duties of the job are:
- Implement a “Security-by-design” standpoint on all new infrastructure and networking systems, before configuration has begun.
- Work with the Infrastructure, Networking, and Cyber Security Team to complete processes/documentation when a new system is implemented, and then regularly check the documentation to ensure it is up to date.
- Assist in the management of internal and external routes in the network, such as VPN and DMZ, using tools such as firewalls and Appsec.
- Harden Windows Servers using tools such as Manage Engine Endpoint Central, and CIS Benchmarking.
- Leading Endpoint Central for the server half of the estate, with either performing remediation or assisting other members of the team on the remediation.
- Work with third parties to implement new infrastructure and networking systems and software.
- Improve Windows and Linux Security by installing patches and implementing changes
- Assist in the creation of HLD’s and LLD’s for the Trusts network, as well as updating them when changes have occurred.
- Assist in the management of core and access layer networking.
